Hello,
Recently posted on another thread about the smell of cigarettes coming into one of our bedrooms from our neighbours house. Started to investigate by lifting the floorboards as there was a noticeable draft coming through, and to our surprise found what looks like a chimney flue? Or are there any other explanations as to what it could be I wonder? We were wondering whether the top floor of the house could have been added on at a later date? But the old bungaroosh walls seem consistent throughout. It's an 1840s terraced house in Brighton.
On the one hand this makes blocking the smells coming through from next door quite easy. But we're worried this could cause issues? Or if it is a shared chimney flue and they ever used their fireplace would the smoke pour into our house? Will contact a surveyor, but just wondering if anyone had any ideas, or have seen something like this before?
