Hi all
Our home used to have damp problems in the cellar due to underground springs flooding the cellar floor. The previous owner solved this by creating a 1 meter thick concrete floor with a water drainage system, as a result there's no more water inside the cellar and walls seem to have dried up except at ground level (concrete evel in this case).
On some days, we can smell a slight "musty" smell near the cellar door in our hallway. Our cellar has 3 large open "windows" for ventilation at the front and used to have 2 large ones at the back too but these were bricked up by the previous owner and replaced by a small drain pipe. I assume that, because of this, there's a bigger chance of air flow coming through the windows at the front and going "up the stairs" into the hallway and resulting in the cellar smell?
We plan on opening the bricked up windows at the back when we redo our terrace but in the mean time, is there a way to prevent/improve this?
Thanks!
