We are in the process of moving our of our Grade II listed cottage in Lincolnshire and moving to South Somercotes further up the coast. I believe Biffvernon lives quite close by. Really looking forward to it. More land 3 acres and 2 fishing lakes - so lots of room for the chickens and bees and our beloved Border terrier. Complete change of property though - a 1960/70's bungalow. Still i suppose it is sort of a period property now!! Wont have to worry about getting listed consent for everything - but i am looking forward to researching "period" textiles and furniture.

Good luck coz - a big change for you. The land sounds fantastic, (lucky chickens!) the architecture of your house is perhaps an acquired taste but certainly getting more interesting as each year goes by - and you can certainly have some fun with the furnishings and fittings - the period is completely "on-trend" so loads to choose from. Thanks Joce. Middi - that would be great if you wanted to come. The lakes are well stocked with perch, roach, tench, carp and ghost carp - so we have been informed by the owners. Hopefully by next spring/summer we will be in a position to issue day fishing tickets, but it's only a thought at the moment - we aren't intending it to become a business as such - but would welcome people visiting. There is plenty of room for tents/camping etc. At some point we hope we may be able to install a wc and shower block. We are bikers - and for the past two years have held a mini rally at our current place. This year we had 23 bikers and tents. We served a full english breakfast both days and an evening meal too. We had a bonfire and disco both nights and were all in fancy dress too. They have already decided they are coming again next year!! Can't wait to move but am trying not to get excited until I actually have the keys in my hand I wont believe it. I shall really miss our little cottage but the fact is we realise it is just too small and there seems to be no prospect of making it large enough. At present - when my daughter and the two grandkids come they have to sleep in our caravan and my son-in-law wont come with them because he is well over 6 ft tall and the caravan beds arent big enough. Even though we managed to gain consent for a utility room to be built on they wont let us extend upstairs to make more sleeping space - so we need to move on.

Ahh - a sweet story - nice there are people who recognise that they are wrong for the building, and not insisting that the building is wrong for them.

If the lakes are already reasonably well stocked, and if I were you, I would certainly exploit the pssibility of that extra income ( usually between £7 to £10 day ticket).

Penners - thanks for making me laugh. I know what you mean about "the Trotters". We wont be able to do much to it initially cos we havent managed to sell our cottage yet. We've had quite a lot of viewings - but most people can't get their head around the fact that it was built around 1760 and has low ceilings and small proportions, whilst they all love the land it offers. Even the fact that it has LTB and full PP for a utility extension etc. When it finally does sell - then we will be able to hopefully get it how we want it.

When I first saw Austrian blinds in a v. posh Interiors magazine I really coveted them. By the time they had become affordable we called them 'knicker blinds' and despised people who had them.

I am still trying to get my head around the fact that we are moving to a. a bungalow and b. not a period property. We have always lived in period properties up to now, but although we scoured the property market for the money we could afford there wasnt anything that had the land or space in the house that we need. I suppose I had better get my thigh high boots and mini skirt out of storage!!
