Hello - Could anyone recommend a good price, reliable and insured moving company in London ? (London to London move)

We used Bishops Move not sure if they had a London location.

Get them to pack for you. It was not much extra for our 3 bed house £200ish and saved us weeks of work, they come in and pack everything.

Also haggle hard these days, my wife got a few hundred off.

If you have small fragile things of value I would highly recommend packing and moving them yourself. Moving companies are great at wrapping and packing furniture, they are OK at packing sets of kitchen things like plates and glasses. Even the good ones are not great with ornaments and odds and ends.

If any of your furniture has to be taken apart and there are fixings, have some ( preferably coloured ) envelopes handy and seal the parts in there and tape to what they have come from. It's easy for parts to get lost if they are wrapped in the same sort of paper as everything else.

I used Gentleman and a Van http://www.gentlemanandavan.co.uk/ for two moves I did in London in the past 24 months. Not connected to them in any way - would definitely use them again - did a brilliant job in packing and unpacking as well as returning to take back the empty boxes etc.

We also used them a few years back (in East Anglia). We were very satisfied. As Ben says, I was amazed at how little extra they charged for doing all the packing up, too.
