Recurrent winter problem: on our living room wall recesses either side of a fireplace we get a (roughly) 6-inch strip of condensation above the skirting which quickly changes to a white mould. This is an external wall on a 1900's (ish) end of terrace with an injection damp course, directly outside is a footpath of stone with little or no mortaring but not connected by mortar or similar to the property. There is little or no draught in the property (double glazed & loft insulation) and we have draught excluding on both external doors. All air bricks are clear of obstruction and we only get this problem when it is cold, rain (& we get plenty in Bolton) does not contribute to the problem. I have had a good look through this site and a couple of others & I think this may simply be down to ventilation, am I correct? And how do start solving this problem?
