mortgages for thatched properties

Our previous mortgages lender Alliance and Leicester have just said that they do not provide mortages for non-brick, thatched houses.

Does anyone know of providers that will (and have competetive rates and hopefully a fixed period?)

We did get one in the end as it turned out that they just did not offer mortgages on timber houses with no bricks at all (and ours had some bricks.)

hi , i have my thatched roof farmhouse mortgaged with the halifax, I find it hard to get the buildings and contents cover.

NFU have been recommended to me as buildings insurers. Have dealt with them on a professional basis in the past and have always found them very good and easy to deal with. They also cover contents.

We have our stone and thatched cottage mortgaged with the Nationwide. I did an extensive search on contents and buildings insurance last year and found Playle Russell very competitive. Their website is http://www.strawhouses.co.uk
