Lovely study Matt; that 'sagey' type of green is a personal favourite and I've used something very similar in a previous study as well. I'd have painted the insides of the bookcases the same colour but having seen the contrasting effect of a white interior I may change my mind when I finally get around to some decorating instead of repairing.

Funny you should say that, we're just back from the cinema after watching Alice in Wonderland. Very entertaining, although i was disappointed there was no Walrus and Carpenter.

Actually mind are a pale shade of the same green as the exteriors (the colour balance in the photos is a little off) - I just added white until I got to the shade I wanted.

That can be an interesting creative process, provided you avoid the pitfall that I invariably disappear into - that is, not making quite enough of your special colour. No matter how meticulous you are about keeping quantity notes, you can never quite get the same shade a second time.

That doesn't really matter, Penners, as long as you start using the 'new' colour at a corner. Then any difference in shade or hue just looks like a trick of the light.

What I do penners is mix it up in a small pot (only a few spoonfuls), and periodically brush a bit onto card before continuing on adding white. By the end I have a shade card of say 8 shades. I then take it to the local dulux centre who scan the dried paint and give me a colour code for each shade. They then mix up the one I want - that way I can then recreate the colour when ever I want.

A plan that's obviously worked well for you, Matt. I must say, however, that on the few occasions that I've tried that Dulux service, the colour that they've mixed is never anything like the one that they've scanned.

Maybe it's a question of being lucky with your in-store operative.

on hte first two I used to get them to do tester pots of the code to compare back to the original tone card, but they were such a close match I didn't bother on the third. Perhaps I just got lucky either with the colours or the operator.

Mind you, I'm a bit suspicious of the "Guest Loo/Laundry". Do we infer that the guests has to carry out certain laundry-related duties?

Your wine cellar looks very much like mine. Empty (although possibly for different reasons).
