The government has paid out a record £450,000 for an end-of-terrace house in one of the Victorian streets being bulldozed across northern England to make way for modern housing developments, the Times reveals: “A Cheshire-based property investor picked up the payout, which is more than double the price that any other property has fetched on the same road in the last two years. Property experts said it could be completely refurbished for less than £100,000.”

when that prgroam was done maybe 2 years ago now by Trevor McDonald they were able to refurb one of the terraced houses for the same cost as it would have been to demolish it as part of the grand steam roller scheme. Cost £18,000.00
The sad thing was the person who lived it in before (they were born in it) could not believe the transformation that had been acheived and all within current regs for emmisions etc.

To me this is a grand fiddle to generate jobs to boost elections and reduced un-employment figures. Me cynic.. no ! wont create a lasting change just a short term whilst in government sticky plaster. these homes they are building lookd awful and wont create communities. People make communities not bricks and mortar.
