Mixing lime putty made easy

After spending a small fortune on hiring forced action mixers over the past year I finally bought a proper mortar mixer, one of those two handled jobies with a great big wisk. It works a treat and will mix small quantities as well as big loads. It was about £70 from ebay, so less than two hirings, bargain!!

There are lots on ebay new for £65 upwards (inc delivery). No idea how much of a toy they are though.

what are they coming under?
mortar mill
lime mixers
Paddle mixer (too many..whisk type affairs)
forced action mixer..

I found a 30" circumference one.. ( a bit small?) thats the only one with 6 days to go..

what did you type in? to come up with loads..

Just like this one. I really didn't know how good it was going to be and I have only used it for this weekend but I am really impressed, it seems to be more than up to the job.

I know it's more expensive but it does get used every day.
The only cautionary thing I'd say though, is if you're wanting to mix haired mortar, then don't use one of these types of mixer as you'll find the whisk drags all the hair out of the mortar. Other wise they're great for the job.

I mix as normal then tip out on a board and fold the hair in, in 3 goes, with a shovel. Its the only method I have found that gets an even mix.
