Milky stains on varnished floor

Hi folks

Looking for help. I have sanded a wooded floor (pine possibly maple boards) in one of the bedrooms and when cleaned with white spirt looked good it was then left to dry for 24 hours. However when I applied Ronseal Diamond Coat Satin Varnish it seems to have brought up milky looking stains in several areas of the room, one of which is about the size of a dinner plate. This has spoiled the look of the floor.

Anyone know what has caused this and how it can be remedied.

This isnt very helpful, but the varnish wasnt a good idea.

did you put it on quite thick ? Varnish can go milky. You would be much much better to use a floor oil or wax. the varnish *will* crack and flake with use and is a right bloody pain.

Ive just posted something similar under another post (Is sanding my only option). But I had used Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Wax.

99% of the floor is perfect but just a few little areas at the edges of some of the blocks has cracked and discoloured. The same quantity of wax was applied as everywhere else.

I can only assume that even after sanding and White spirit cleaning there is still something on the wood which is causing it.

I have even taken the wax of these areas and reapplied just for the same thing to happen.
