Well I posted my Christmas Cards last night, so now is the time to wish all forum members and visitors a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I have enjoyed reading about all your exploits and wish us all good luck in 2011 for the continued work we are doing on our properties.

I hope Father Christmas brings you all something nice. Peace and best wishes, Merlin.

Merlin is clearly one of those well-organised people. I'm afraid the FF household is muddling through December in its usual fashion until we suddently realise that Christmas is very nearly upon us and we're running out of time. Minor preparations have already been made as I've recovered all the decorations from the attic this week in readiness for the weekend. Cards will no doubt follow in due course.

So I'd also like to send Christmas greetings to everyone on PPUK and would also like to echo Pford75's sentiment of thanks for all the advice and encouragement shared amongst us all, but most of all for the reassuring knowledge that, no matter how difficult something may seem, someone, somewhere has shared the pain, frustration, expense and, ultimately, the enjoyment of keeping our wonderful old houses in good order.

May I also thank our forum hosts for kindly providing this happy little corner of cyberspace.

Well, my plans for finishing lots of jobs before Christmas are now scuppered as I'm having an operation next week - still it's a good excuse to justify putting my feet up before Christmas and delegating all the work to the rest of the family and I think we'll just have to concentrate on cleaning and tidying and forget all the decorating jobs still to do....

Gosh - FF has written my Christmas message for me, the only difference being that we've not even got round to disinterring our decorations yet.

Good Lord, is it Christmas soon?????

That about sums up my personal level of readiness! Actually, not quite true, we've got all the presents for the kids and ordered a goose for Christmas dinner. That's about it, although I have promised the kids we'll do the decorations this weekend. Wish me luck!

It does seem very early to be saying this - but Season's Greetings to all.

Mrs W tells me we finished the Christmas prep before Bonfire Night this year.

All that is left is to decorate the house, once I have untangled 3 furlongs of fairy lights and found the blown bulbs. We had a practice murder and roasting of one of the geese at the weekend. All looking good for one of the fat boys in a fortnight - looks like he'll be about 8 or 9 kilos, which is big for a goose!

It's too early for Merry Christmas from me, I want my very own Merry Christmas thread nearer the time, where I do the traditional thing and pick out some nice virtual Christmas presents for you all. But in case Merlin is totally tied up by his new baby then, a very Merry Christmas to him, and it's been lovely hearing about the ongoing project.

It's such a fascinating forum, with everyone's projects, tastes and opinions, and so many lovely, cheery, entertaining personalities as well. Life would be so very much duller without PPUKers, so thanks to all for keeping me entertained, informed- and of course supported in my oh-so-slow work on the newly christened Cold Nipples-Standing-Out-like-Beacons Cottage.

Good luck everyone with the run up to Christmas, and my tip for you all is socks and smellies - preferably of the cashmere and Molton Brown variety!

A friend of mine worked as a student for one of high street fashion stores. She was told one day to work as a greeter on the door - but firstly she was told to go and select a padded bra from one of the displays and put it on. She was rather offended by this - firstly, she was blessed with enough natural padding not to need any artificial boost, and secondly, why the hell should the size of her chest make a difference anyway?

She confronted the manager with this, who told her it was nothing to do with the size of her chest....

"When it comes to headlights, dipped beam is sometimes more appropriate than full beam. It's chilly stood next to the door" was the phrase used!

Thanks for your good wishes Joce and everyone else. I will be tied up with Baby M in the run up to Xmas, so have got in early.

In the New Year I hope to post some piccies of the progress I am making on our house, albeit with a very small pair of unhelpful hands!

Regarding the girl and the padded bra, alas there is no-one here to chastise me for my inappropriate appearance, and it's not much affected by bras, as the sensation of shrivelling, followed by the inevitable chafing, happens whatever. There's only one thing for it, get naked by the fire, and open the absinthe.

Oh dear, this new Christmas drinking time of 4 pm is very bad - sorry all!

edit Wasn't it about this time last year that everyone put photo's of their Christmas tree's on here ? I can't wait to see them again.
