Thanks to all those readers/browsers who gave me interesting suggestions and feedback on the restoration I carried out on Telford's Granary in Burghead, Morayshire.
I am glad to say that the building is now 99% complete and appart from Historic Scotland cracking a fairly sharp whip, the building works went pretty smoothly.

Yes, it appeared in the Sunday Times as one of their Properties of the Week.

I thought it looked familiar when I glanced through that supplement. I usually try to avoid reading it, because I always end up so disenchanted with my own house!

All depends if one wants to live in Morayshire! Having seen photos, it looks a wonderful place to live, but rather a long way away from my friends and family. Besides which - having taken this house apart, I now have to get around to putting it back together again!

By the way, is Telford's Granary named after Thomas Telford? If so, why?

Designed as a Granary Store by the famous Scottish engineer Thomas Telford, the building was completed in 1808.

My David, you have better recollections than me. I don't remember seeing it in the supplement.... I always enjoy reading it, it makes me feel happy to have what I do and sometimes gives me inspiration.....

I am buying it this weekend as allegedly the Merchants House is in it, so to is an article on Save and the new BAR "heaps of Delight".

Hi David, Yes it was designed by Thomas Telford in 1808 and used originaly to store grain. It is now grade A listed.
