Beautiful interior which surely merits being listed.

One dodgy light fitting and one rear window is all that Mr Nitpick can see to purse lips about. No downlighters, no nasty modern radiators.
And pretty well furnished, which is often a good sign.

But how could anyone contemplate building in that small back garden. Crass.

Anyway, lovely house for someone. Really hope it finds a sympathetic buyer.

Love the panelling, fireplace and frieze as well as that rear curved window......and so cheap too

I can't understand why people wish to carve up the gardens of such lovely properties in order to squeeze in a (no doubt inappropriate) house, when a suitably sized garden is far more desirable IMHO :roll: Makes my blood boil :twisted:

Hope a sympathetic buyer comes along and saves it as it is.....doubt it though.....

I suspect the bathroom and kitchen may be be grim. You can always tell more from what the EAs don't show. On the other hand the frieze looks interesting, I wonder if there is an elephant on it.......not that I need another house.

That is so very true about EAs and their tricks, Lady A :evil: Whilst I'm loving the original features of the property generally, I doubt I'd be so keen to inherit a genuine antiquated kitchen and/or bathroom.....although we tend to favour period style as opposed to modern fittings in both :wink: It does depend though, obviously, as some original bathrooms (and kitchens) can be lovely.

Looked at streetview and thought we'd moved in already as there's a 110 Defender just like ours sitting outside :lol:

You've got to love the way EA's phrase their descripions at times though:-

A "garden store and Gardener's WC complete the accomodation" - so that'll be a shed and an outside toilet then!

Can anyone define what exactly is encompassed within the term Arts and Crafts, with respect to British architecture and housebuilding? I'm never sure what exactly is meant by an Arts and Crafts house, and how you know when you're looking at one.

Lovely house! Almost a carbon copy of my late Aunt's house on Iffley Road in Oxford---it was sold in 1986 and 'modernised'--pity so I hope that does not happen with this one. The bathroom had a roll top bath with chrome dolphin taps, a corner hand basin. and the loo had a wonderful thunderbox wall mounted cistern. There was a frieze in every room and wonderful ceiling lights. I remember black and white hall floor tiles, a bell on the back door with a 'turnkey' to make a marvellous sound--used to ring it incessantly to annoy my Grandmama. The kitchen had a small black cast iron cooker and--the very latest, at the time, a gas cooker on legs. A butlers sink with a wooden draining board. I think the oiled lino on the bedroom floors was a dark green. ooo yes, and there was newspaper tied on string in the outside loo!! :lol:
