lounge ceiling

My lounge ceiling is artex, lately, i have started to see, around the perimeter, like ceiling pins through the artex. Would anyone know if the artex just needs retouching as i am concerned that my ceiling will fall...yes paranoia at its best!!!.. Builders wont come as they want to know what work i need doing?

Pictures would help out a lot if possible. Also, do you know how the ceiling is constructed underneath the artex? i.e. is it plasterboard or plaster and lath?

Not sure I'm familiar with ceiling pins. Are they like plasterboard nails? If so, is it the heads or the points that are protruding?

As MdB says, a picture would help tremendously.

Your lucky, close to where I live there is an estate of 500?,1000? 1960s bungalows with artexed ceilings. The builders used a brown paper tape on the joints on the plasterboard which is now falling off!!
If the nail heads are poking through, I would wait till they get bad then pull the nail out with a pair of stout wire cutter - they cause less damage then pliars and replace with 40 mm plasterboard screws after gently countersinking the holes and make good the head holes with filler.
