Long lengths of blue water pipe

Anyone know anywhere that does really long lengths of the blue water pipe, preferablly 32mm, but could use 25mm if need be.

I need 3 x at least 600m, or one big roll would be ok, so far I can find 50m, that's a lot of money in joints!!!!!!!

My local farmers' co-op does it in pretty massive rolls - goes by the name of alkathene. Do you want me to ask about maximum lengths for you?

We had a 50m roll of 32mm stuff this summer and it was difficult to handle: a nightmare for me to get straight on my own. I can't imagine what a longer roll would be like to sort out. What are you doing with it?

I have tried agricultural suppliers. I've tried every where I can think of. I've also asked the people who do it in small rolls if they will get me a large roll from the manufacturer, they won't/can't. I've asked them to tell me who makes it, they won't/can't.

We need to have a new water supply to the house, as currently we share a supply with the farm.

The house is 600m from the road.

Might it be worth considering sinking a borehole so you have your own private supply? I don't know what the costs of a new connection to mains adds up to, but I think you can get a borehole drilled for around £3,000.

We have three meters halfway down our driveway, one for us and the other two added for a couple of new houses some years ago.

Presumably the farm supply is metered? Can you get the water co to split off a feed to your house 'above' their meter? Of course, if their meter is on the road then this might not help.

Am now going to look at Europipes.

The enw connection to the mains isn't an awful lot, about £200, the pipe will probably be the most expensive, or the digging of the trench from road to house. We do have a disused well????

The meters have to be on the road, as if there is a leak, they don't want to be paying for the water or repair on such a long run. The Farmers meter is indeed on the road.

I asked the water company, and apparently they use hardly any pipe, as they do hardly any pipe laying. Ours has to cross the main road and connect to a pipe we have to lay. I asked if we could emply them to lay the pipe to us, yes we could, they'd outsource it, don't know who to or wehre they'd get the pipe from. I'm trying to find a big housebuilders who'll talk to me and see where they get their's from. Although someone told me they use a sealing machine and join short lengths that way.

I have tried all of our plumbers merchants locall and all the ones I could find on the internet. Longest I could source was 100m of 20mm.

I think you'll have to give her the £50 now, for such a useless suggestion in the first place :lol: :lol:

Presumably you have a time-limited arrangement to take water from your neighbour's supply. Is there no chance of making the arrangem,ent more permanent, installing your own meter and paying your neighbour for water used?

If you do lay your own new supply pipe does the £200 connection fee include getting a pipe across the road you mentioned? If it does then it sounds like a bargain - I'd imagine that arranging to lay a pipe under a public road would be fraught with red-tape and high costs.

what about some of the utility contractors, their only job is to run pipes and cables.

one ive seen a lot of is turriff, thats in scotland so sorry if it not any help.

The joints are very secure and if it works out cheaper it might be the way to go, do a drawing showing the pipe run, position of stopcock position of joints etc

Just this second had the final quote. £490 each connection, as we have an extra wide road to cross, typical!! They didn't tell me in the first place that the About £200 was a std connection fee, which is then added with extras, such as your meter!! How many std connections don't have a meter?? It's more because we have to cross the road, it's more because we are more than 12m away, it's more because we have to cross two footpaths and one grass verge.

We can't continue to use the farm supply as shared supplies are now illegal, according to severn trent and that's shared after the meter. Currently we have paid the same amount as we paid at our old house and when we have our own meter we can check if our usage compares to what we have paid and then sort out any differences. If it was just up to us two we'd just stick a meter in our pipe and pay him for what we use. It's a 2 1/2" supply to the farm, so it's not as if it can't cope!!!

Tony, good idea, just need to keep my eyes open as I drive around, or in fact visit a new housing estate being built. Something new to google anyway.

I would think that more joints = more leaks
