Hey all.
I've recently pulled down the plasterboard in my bathroom, which is an extension bolted onto the existing stone cottage.
The stone cottage has 18" thick walls with rubble infil, as does the extension.
Now there is some old insulation above the bathroom ceiling which is old, tatty and doesn't even cover the full span properly. So I'm going to replace it with rock wool, as I believe this is best thing to use for this type of property ?
My question though is should I put insulation over the original, but now internal, stone wall or leave that open so it can more easily breath.. and no doubt let heat escape..
I also have an oak beam running across the bathroom which also has no original insualtion above it. Should I also put insulation above that or again leave it open so it can breath better?
Here's a crude diagram to help explain.
1. This is the original insulation (if it wasn't old and falling apart)
2. Should I do this?
3. Should I do this?
4. I think I should do this.. but wanted to check.
Thanks.
