Lock in a box

I need a rim deadlock to put on the back of the garage plank double doors.
Most rimlocks are flimsy. There is one 5-lever model, but it has a Mazak case, so no great strength.

I recall someone on here bought a steel box to accept a 5-lever mortice lock. I remember them commenting on the cost.

Haven't been able to find anything - can someone remind me please?

Not period looking at all (though the chain driven automobile behind it is very period ) but it is strong: the French take security seriously. It's the type you have to turn the key round twice to lock it fully. I have attached it with coach bolts right through the timber and have reinforced the wood with a steel plate as well. We actually bought the lock for our house in France but never got round to fitting it and it seemed too good to waste.

Yes, thankyou, either of those could work. The box for the Chubb is what I was half remembering, but the long throw of that rimlock is attractive. Shame about the postage.

Funny, isn't it, once you begin to get clued in you start to find things.

There have been a few break-ins in the village. Outbuildings. Tools. The local farm, as I think I mentioned before, has been done twice. I've dithered about whether to defend the garage, or whether to leave it just latched or with a cheap padlock, to avoid damage to my ancient doors. After all, there will be nothing of value in there. But the people who did the farm did quite a lot of internal damage, perhaps because they didn't find anything worth stealing.
I seem to be creeping towards lockemout mode.

Next thing will be an alarm. I quite fancy this.

3-lever is fine. I don't believe many crooks actually pick locks.
But in the end I bought this

It has a long throw.
With an external escutcheon it will not look wrong. The inside of the garage does not have period pretensions, so no problem there.
