Hi. I have a locally listed building that I want to extend. The planners are treating it as a listed building for some reason.
The only residential building nearby is a semi over 200 feet away. The only others are
large detached homes up to 8000 sqft. These are all to the rear of the property, about 700 feet away and separated by a railway line.
The same exact building as mine in size and dimensions, also locally listed within the same council but in more densely populated areas, was give an ok
to extend 3 years ago. The council says that my circumstances are not the same.
Planners refused permission 2x to build an extention of 25ft x 25ft. The original building is about 30ft x 30ft. Almost all extensions in
my town are for extentions that double the home's size etc. or, the building is knocked down 1st.
I'm thinking about going in for an appeal but am worried about my chances.
Any thoughts or experience with a locally listed building?
Also, what is this locally listed anyway, why not make it fully listed?
Regards.
