Liverpool Edge Lane CPO confirmed at 2nd attempt (EGI) - The government has confirmed a Compulsory Purchase Order for the Edge Lane West regeneration scheme in Liverpool that was initially turned down in ‘06. English Partnerships, Liverpool city council & Liverpool Vision said they welcomed the decision, which will allow the delayed scheme to go ahead. The development will provide 280 new homes, a new “urban boulevard” & retail & business space. It involves the demolition of a large #of houses in order to allow the widening of the road at St Cyprian’s Church.

I think another legal challenge might be brewing.

Will people be able to move back into the boarded up houses? Will they want to?

I am hoping so much for the legal challenge to win.

In the early 80s during my yoof I cut me teeth as a trainee joiner working on houses along the northern part of Edge Lane.

I can remember going into an old house (boss bought 2 for peanuts) and still seeing stacks o original features, the original bell board and pulleys to and from the servants quarters, fireplaces, slate on t'roof.

If the houses are removed I do hope each is salvaged.

Dismantle brick by brick and rebuild in a similar style removing the need for those modern box houses.
