No matter how hard I try, I can find few redeeming features in any of the prominent examples of Brutalist architecture in the UK. Grey, ugly, not on any kind of human scale - no attempt to fit in with surroundings - and their love of pre-cast panels or cast in-situ concrete just always makes them look dirty. It says something that the Church can't find any takers for this building even for free.

It may be an important example of it's kind but it's still hideous!

It's things like this that really underline why you should take a look at the portfolio of an architect before even thinking of hiring them.

If beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder - these guys should have gone to SpecSavers. :wink:

Let's hope that concrete cancer is taking hold. I know we had to have modernism or we'd still be building mock-classical buildings, but I can't find a single redeeming feature in the brutalist branch of modernism.
