lime wash

I have a mixture of gypsum plasterboard and lath and plaster on the interior walls. I would like to use a lime wash on the walls as this will help with breathability, I have read that "DG27 bonding primer" should be used on the gypsum plasterboard to help with adhesion is this correct?
has anyone added coloured pigment to the lime wash and what what where the results like?

I hadn't heard of DG27 but found this information on the Mike Wye website, who is generally regarded as a good lime specialist, so I'd be fairly confident the information is correct. http://www.mikewye.co.uk/mikeprices.htm#dg27

As for colouring limewash, I understand it's common practice but is recommended that enough is made for the complete job (including multiple coats) because of the difficulty in matching colours from batch to batch.

In my house I had old and new lime plaster on the same wall (as I didn't want to remove all the old stuff if it was OK). We used DG27 from Mike Wye on the old stuff before doing the final skims on both old and new, so that you cannot see the join. It's expensive but has worked very well. I think before you limewash, you will need to put a thin coat of lime plaster on DG27 on the gypsum (or have I misunderstood?)!

I think you can also use DG27 on anything for the same purpose (someone, possibly on PPUK, said they have used it on glass!!).

Going back to the original question, I don't think limewash will improve existing breathability per se; unless you're comparing it to plastic emulsion paint as an alternative covering.
