Lime render repair over silicate paint

Hi all,

This is my first time actively seeking advice on here, but have found so much information really helpful in general! Thank you all for your great work

I'm faced with cracks in lime render that has been painted with silicate paint. I have in the past successfully repaired limewashed render, but am uncertain whether lime plaster will bond to the paint or whether this needs removing first. If so, what is the best way to remove it?

I stand to be corrected but as I understand it silicate paints don't form a skin over a lime render surface but will be absorbed into it in much the same fashion as a lime wash. Unless the paint used on your house has some other specific qualities, I suspect there would be no bonding issues with any repairs to the cracks. Why not try a small repair and see how it behaves after a few days as it should cure reasonably quickly.?
