Lime plastering

hi all..

I thought i'd let you know that there is a lime plastering course you can go on.. 1 day course.

i'm not advertising this one specifically but,it was very informative, it will save me money, not buying the wrong materials etc.. I have a better understanding of what lime is about,and how much water is involved.. and the perils of draughts..

well worth the fee.. its in wales, but me and the misses had a great day out / nice lunch and i found that she can plaster better than me!! as we had a practice at all the stages involving lime work.

tyn mawr lime in brecon cost us £216 for the day for 2: prices i suppose will alter accordingly

thanks nemesis your like the oracle... :lol:

i didnt want to appear biased to one place, its just that I had experience of the course. I think a lot of people would benefit from visiting one of the centres to get an insight. It's not always easy reading about it from a book, I'd rather have hands on experience any day

It's a few years ago, but I found the lime day at Anglia lime, run in conjunction wth The Lime Centre I seem to remember, being a googd introduction. The Essex County Council courses on wattle & daub and timber frame repairs attracted not just interested owners but also COs and the trade. Both have been the basis of an extensive restoration.

Practical always supplements theory and vice versa.

Nowt against Ty Mawr I have to say - very good people - just there are others out there, and they may be easier to get to.

However - all have products to sell, and have their own ideas, so bear that in mind when attending any course.
