Hi All,
I was looking for advice on lime plastering, (a much opined on topic I know). I have a late Victorian terraced house, with solid walls, the internal partition walls appear to be built of brick on edge in a timber lattice. The plaster is in a very bad way, some chunks were loose and large amounts of it had been re-plastered with modern plaster that was wonky so that has had to be removed to.
Some of the partition walls need attention where the plaster has been removed as well. I am looking to re plaster in lime I was planning on doing the base coat myself, and getting a professional plasterer to do the top skim.
The real question is how much lime plaster do I need? the original lime including top coat was up to an inch thick in places. I have been told about three and a bit square meters to the tonne, which seems like an awful lot of plaster, what is the general coverage level for lime plaster?
Also will lime plaster leech into marble fireplaces and discolour them, like modern plaster does?
Any other tips and advice from other people who have tried it?
