Lime next to oak?

We have a curved section of stone wall in the kitchen that has an oak door frame next to it. We intend to point the wall with some premixed lime mortar that we have, would the oak be affected in anyway by the lime mortar?

The lime mortar we have was bought in 2008 (for a job he's never got round to) it is stored in air tight tubs, will it still be useable - the website for the firm we bought it from in lincolnshire says it has a long shelf life - but how long is long?

Lime can stain Oak.
We have lots of Oak around our kitchen adn bedroom and we had them all lime plastered before Christmas.
You can't see any problem areas, some looks a little aged and having character, so I wouldn't be bothered about this.

No idea about the lifespan on the pre-mix, I'd just ask the suplier?

I've got some pre-mix in airtight tubs that is about 10 years old. It is still fine.

Thanks, the oak is aged and characterful already as it is reclaimed from a local church, it sat in a farmers barn for a number of years before we got our hands on it.

Both oak and lime will be fine. No worries.
