Life expectancy of a chimney sweep?

Had my annual chimney sweep today. Called the usual number. Company name keeps changing - initially it was Pearce & Grandson, for a while it was sadly just Pearce & Co, now it's Pearce & Son!

I was told it would be the 'young Mr Pearce' and on arrival he looked at least in his late 30's.

I've only been using the company for 10 years...

Or they keep going bankrupt to avoid creditors and are using different family members to re-opening with a slightly different name cynical, moi?

I don't imagine the children who climbed up chimneys, often while still lit, lived much beyond 10 if they were lucky.

Testicular carcinoma was the first ever recognised Occupational Health Disease, due to solid fuel smoke and residue being carcinogenic. I guess since they stopped stuffing small children up the chimneys in their underpants that issue has tailed off somewhat.
