We've got three external doors, all ledged plank and obviously no approved mortice locks. Can't find contents insurance (except for £600+). NFU who are happy to insure the building won't even quote!
Any ideas? What has anyone in a similar situation done?

Or if you really want mortice, you can effectively box one into the back of the door using a solid wooden rectangle - you could use your router to make the "mortice" in advance, easier than chiseling, and if you ensure the wooden box is nicely finished it isn't much of an eyesore
