David Fleming's book, Lean Logic, was published yesterday. He was deeply interested in craftsmanship, the hand-made, all that was best in the development of our culture. He saw in these things the key to surviving the uncertain future. I had the honour and pleasure of proof-reading the manuscript and it is wonderful to see it now, all 736 pages, hardbound and illustrated with Howard Phipps' wonderful wood engravings

There are about 40 wood engravings by Howard Phipps, none of which can be seen here but they give the idea. The ones for the book were specially commissioned so you won't find them on Google (yet).

Biff, I don't know whether it's some unusual setting on my computer, but when I look at that web page, the text is punctuated with some odd characters - they look like a question mark within a black diamond. They seem to occur wherever you've used (I presume) an apostrophe or a '£' sign.
