I've had to lift a few tiles in order to remove some piping to two raiators we are removing. These were laid using cement mortar by the looks of it.
What is the best material for relaying them and the odd tile which is loose?
Lime Mortar?
What sort of Lime?
What sort of mix?
Under the cement there is plenty of sand.
Something else entirely?
These tiles are not that old, probably put down when the previous previous owners did some "remedial" work to the property in the 40/50's.
While I'm on about tiles, our kitchen window sill is made from the same quarry tiles, but they have a rounded edge. I've looked for some around, but can't find any. Should I just use my wet grinding wheel to smooth an edge down on a spare one?
I need some to match up where we are installing a new window.
Should I look at another product entirely for the inner sill?
I don't have anything original to go by.
