Last mansion house in my area.

I hope this doesn't break an rules of the forum, and I plan to find out more about this initiative, but the last mansion house on the Yardley Rd in my area Acocks Green, looks to have an uncertain future. The large grounds were sold to developers who have built admittedly decent sized and reasonable looking houses, but the owners of the big old house will sell the house to the same developers for demolition if the present school can't buy the building. It's an admirable initiative, PP, but I can't see any mention anywhere of the building being listed (unless I've missed that). Without this protection, it seems to me that the owners of the building can probably do whatever they like with it - including (with the appropriate planning consents) demolish it and build modern houses.

Has anyone tried to get the house listed? On the face of it that seems to be the most promising way of giving it some protection.

Nope not stat listed, just locally listed. I think it would be a good idea to get a cooperative together and buy it. It seems the only way, and not beyond the means of a few people. I've never done anything like this, but I am making enquiries. The problem is, the people who run the present school are not experienced at running a school and don't know much about business, less than me in fact and I know nothing. They do have lots of tenacity, good will, many volunteers and a very caring ethos, none of which make a good business plan.
