Labour involved in Limecrete Installation

Hi

I'm considering installing a Limecrete floor in my Dorset cottage & am awaiting a quote for the materials from the Limecrete experts in Wales.
In the mean time can anyone give me an idea of the labour involved in laying a 50m sq limecrete floor.

A 45m sq/ 75mm deep screed took us 12 hours to lay, having had the screed delivered ready mixed. Thats with 3 people to shovel, carry and spread/level the mix, and 1 very short tea break! Hope that helps.

It depends on your equipment, but at least four bodies are best - two mixing and two barrowing/pouring/tamping/levelling.
It's worth hiring the largest pan mixer you can get hold of, as a standard drum mixer isn't as efficient (the powderedd lime gets stuck to the drum and needs frequent scraping and hosing out) and can only do 90-100 litres at a time, which is a lot of loads for 50 sq m. With a lot of small loads it's also more difficult to maintain consistency of the limecrete, even with careful gauging of the lime, aggregate and water with a system of marked buckets.
You can turn the floor-laying into a social event with promises of beer and grub to willing volunteers (but keep the beer until the floor's done to ensure good quality control!).
