The worktop has been made, and is now in it's place.
Here are a few pics half oiled with linseed from Holkhams, for people to get an idea of colour change.........
Now to go and put back the fridge and the shelves etc.........

And then to start on the next run!!!!

You must be joking, we have another 3 bay unit to build, a settle to put together and into place and to finish off the dresser......... blinds to buy and put up, and then decide where everything is going to live................... That's at least unitl xmas 2011 sorted.

Which hob are you going to use? Do you know yet? I was thinking of a portable plug in one but apparently they're not so reliable. A couple of places I rung about them have stopped supplying them for that reason.

The one that is being fitted is a Baumatic.

The stellar was bought to tide us over a few weeks about 18 months ago and we've had no trouble with it at all, absolutely love it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Just out of interest, how economical is induction heating? Is it any more green than other forms? I presume there is less heated wasted heating the hob, pan and surrounding air? Is induction magic more energy efficient that conduction trickery? Can you get induction ovens too?

Is it worth getting rid of our gas (47KG bottled supply - what a pain) cooker when we do the kitchen to replace with induction hobs?

The induction hob works really well, only heats the size pan you put on it, so no wasted heat from too large a ring or slow cooking from undersized ring.
Need proper pans to work with it, we use our aga ones.
Much less hassle than bottle gas.

Doubt you get an induction oven as there has to be contact with the hob, as soon as you remove the pan it warns you there is no pan then turns itself off.

Thank you. This seems to have good reviews for fast, hot use which is what I'm after. Anything needing slower or cooler cooking I can use my Rayburn. This seems to be just what I'm after. I'm off to buy one! Huge thanks
