Kitchen refurbishment

We are doing our kitchen up ripping out all the 1970's cab's and starting with a blank canvas. The kitchen is an add on extension (1948)of single story proportions onto our thatched cottage. So no historical content to be considered.

My question is has anyone any links to where I may purchase old pine units which I want to use as an 'unfitted' kitchen. Also a Belfast sink and cabinet. Thank you

I know it's really silly, and I never believed I would say this, but I *think* I'll be going for one of the IKEA free standing range which looks plain enough to be old but modern enough to be - erm, modern.
I have to do it with an eye to selling in a couple of years though which changes perceptions of things.

Anything is better than the old office cupboards witch I have at the moment!

I think office cupboards sound a brilliant idea for the kitchen. Just look under "s" for saucepans, "h" for ham and so on.

Oldfella - have you trawled around the local house clearance people, bric-a-brac shops, architectural salvage yards, and so on?

yep. my mum uses an old filing cabinet for her spices. If she stripped it to the bare metal it'd look pretty cool, but wouldn't suit her kitchen.

Oldman - if you have 70's kitchen cabinets, don't throw them away as there are plenty of people searching for such things. Stick them on ebay or on Salvo Web and you may even be able to make a few bob on them.
