Kiem Render

Hi there been asked to price a job up using kiem render universal.

It's a old stone property so all hacking back. Iv personally never used the product but have used other lime renders. Seems very very expensive.

Has anyone either applied it on this group or have had it put on.

Will be spraying it as its of 600m2 of property to get on.

What if any are draw backs and if anyone has paid for it doing what price did you pay and what size of property.

Got an idea on price clients happy with my estimate just any info or advice be appreciated

Yeah my job on isle of man been spec it's so expensive compared to k lime I use or baumit lime

Absolutely... along with the window detailing and the parapet cornices. Mammoth job (overall) so taking it in smaller steps; roof (done), re-plumb (almost done), re-wire (1st fix done), windows (halfway done), outside (next year), internal decoration (who knows!)

Completely new product to me I’m afraid, sorry. Interesting though that the blurb says it is made up of hydrated lime with pozzolanic additives and fibres - wonder what the reasoning is vs just using hydraulic lime, flexibility?

Can't vouch for the render but we were recommended their paints - 0.01SD. From what I can see the company is based solely around breathability and sustainability of their products. 150 year old company so not one of the new breed of 'wonder products'...

Manx National Heritage used the paint on the Laxey Wheel some years ago; I believe it hasn't fared well there and they are using something different this time. But that's probably too wet an environment for any coating to be more than sacrificial!

Keim wouldn’t be a go to paint system for most looking for true moisture management. It’s also very pricey. Can’t vouch for their take on plaster, but probably reinventing the wheel, and possibly making it square in the process.
