After 15 months the scaffolding has finally come down - Whoo hoo!!

Sorry but I was so excited that forgot to take pictures - will sort asap

as it's newly painted and the only white house in a sea of stone barn conversions it looks stunning.

A man is actually coming to measure up for carpets, yes carpets tomorrow - carpets mean it's nearly finished don't they !!

We may still yet get to have a Pimms based housewarming garden party!!

Umm - please don't tell my wife that!

The carpets were fitted upstairs some 6 weeks ago, and still I haven't grouted the Heather Browns in the dining room or slate flags on the lounge floor; the new oak staircase only gets 3/4 of the way up and we're still using the ladder; one light switch is fitted, but all the others are temporary plastic and don't even ask about the sockets; there's at least one more coat of the clay paint inside to go on (and how loverly it is to paint with); and I am about three 16" boards short of a landing/library floor; there's a wall to lime plaster; 2 oak doorframes to make, and the new windows have only had one coat of linseed paint (first coat should be dry by Autumn!)

What carpets mean is that there is an illusory hope that it might be nearly finished sometime soon...

Oh - and I've still got a scale model of Snowdon outside the front door that is the spoil heap from all the plasterboard, chipboard, fake beams and cement stuff that came out first. Can't work out why the spoil heap is 1/3 of the total volume of the rooms it came out of...where did it all come from??

Well done, it is a major milestone by the sounds of it. So much work is 'hidden', and to the outsider (and insider at times) it appears that no progress in being made. No wonder you are so pleased to have got the scaffolding down, revealing the results of all that hard work on the exterior.

Looking forward to seeing some pics now....
