Indeed, the Fulwell restoration isn't a reproduction of what the mill last looked like when it worked - to which many people will doubtless say "so what, at least it's working", but when you have a mill that's been museumified, surely you should expect some authenticity? As it is, it's an approximation, with sails and fantail of the wrong type (had it been restored properly, it would have had a unique arrangement in the world), which most people won't notice, but surely visitors have a right to expect, when they visit an expensively restored historic building, that it's at least a fair representation of what it really was - you wouldn't expect to see placcy windows in a National Trust country house, would you?Nemesis said:
