Is anybody looking for a *good* Lime plasterer

Hi everyone

My Lime plaster is going on a treat and looks fabulous!! I will definitely get some pictures up soon for you all to see.

In the meantime, is anyone looking for a really good Lime plasterer? My plasterer has just had a big job cancelled until after Christmas and, with a young family, this is a big loss for him. I said I'd mention it on here as I know people find it difficult to locate tradesmen who really know about Lime and how to use it. They're based in Newark but can travel. If anyone would like to come and see the work they've done for me first I'd be more than happy to show you.

I can recommend these guys 100%. The finish they're producing is wonderful, they're polite and nice to have around and keep the place swept as clean and tidy as can be expected in a building situation. Jaqy - that's great! Glad it's all going well! And as a very long term poster on this site I, and I'm sure others, know you aren't just posting a thinly disguised ad but genuinely helping.

These guys sound terrific! Hopefully some work will come instead of the cancelled contract.

Possibly too they should call SPAB and get on the lists of trad methods people SPAB keeps for enquirers?

Evelyn, thanks for your reply ) I'll mention SPAB to them - thanks. One of my Building Inspectors is a member of SPAB and has given me one of their magazines, Cornerstone. There's some fascinating articles in there! I've also suggested to them that they contact the two local councils (South Kesteven and Newark & Sherwood) and speak to the CO's about getting on their lists, too. Thanks again.

Jaqy, you must have thought I was being daft when I queried your other post about this, and now that I've seen what you say here it's obviously not a problem, and youv'e been on this forumn long enough anyway. But before I knew anything about this stuff my builder assured me that hydraded lime soaked in water for 2 weeks became top quality matured lime putty, and he then proceeded to carry out some smaller repairs with the lime neat.

It dried pure white and shiny, crazed and fell off within weeks. That's one of the reasons I started to learn about it. So forgive me for asking the daft question, it wasn't meant to sound facetious.

LOL!! No wonder you had a panic attack when you read my earlier post!

It's not a problem, really. I didn't take it that way, anyway ) In fairness, it's comments like yours that would make someone stop in their tracks and, hopefully, prevent them making some huge mistakes - so, please don't worry about it )

I have a large clunch cottage in Brighstone. We have just removed all the cement render from indoors downstairs and I want to render the interior walls with lime (hair) plaster and decorate with lime wash. I want a good job done and would like someone experienced in lime - work to take a look at the place. 07812 338 206

We have just been hairy limed in Downend, we havent limewashed yet so its all naked plaster. You are welcome to come have a look and a chat, if you like it you can have the name of the plasterer. I also have an alternative name for a lime plasterer/conservation builder but they always have a waiting list.
