Hello everyone!

Before I start with the all the questions that I'm bound to be posting shortly, I want to say how pleased I am at finding this website. We're just about to exchange and I've been dying to post for ages but didn't want to jump in too soon. Although I've been avidly reading and learning as much as possible and thank you all for the information you’ve been providing to each other.

The house we're in the process of purchasing is an 1894, 3 bedroom, end terrace with an unusual but original octagonal shaped extension to the back containing the kitchen, utility room and cloakroom on the ground floor and bedroom three and the bathroom on the first floor. In about three weeks, when we get underway with the complete refurbishments I plan to update a website with photos so can post the link here.

I think the emoticon is a fake.

I had a close look and is saying " HELLOO!! BABY " not "good luck" as Biff implies.

I am sure there are better lip readers here and prove me wrong.

I agree with Middi it doesn't say Good Luck but I think it says 'Blue Moon' - Mind you Sarah there will be days wehen you're feeling Blue about the house (thats when to log on and speak to the rest of us saddos) - But also I might add days when all is Golden and you're glad to be a 'renovator' - Good Luck

This doesn't mean that we're in for an epidemic of emoticons! The odd one or two is mildly amusing, but used regularly they can be sooooooo irritating.

Like the ones that are twinkling away to the left of the window as I type. I just wish there was some way of turning the blighters off - is there such a thing as an emoticon-swat available?

Moo - I've been fiddling about in Profiles to see whether you can switch off emoticons. There is an option to say yes or no to "Always enable smilies", but I suspect it may only apply to what appears in your own posts, rather than to what you see in anyone else's. However, you might want to try it and see.

If it doesn't work, there's only one solution - learn to love the little yellow darlings!
