It's been a display of stunningly horrid amateurish DIY from start to finish. Not a single interior I would consider to have been "designed" at all. No idea what the gushingly-enthusiastic judges were seeing, perhaps the Emperor's clothes showed up when they were looking.

We always watch these as we both have design backgrounds so are drawn to them, expecting (hoping?) to see some new ideas - not to gain inspiration but often to giggle at or merely be exasperated by the wackiness and sheer lack of good taste - but this series did appear to be surprisingly bad. I did like the mad, older lady (Anne? The Kate Bush type) with her interest in textiles which I can identify with, but wasn't surprised when she was eliminated as her last project was pretty dire. Pip couldn't stop moaning about Kelly Hoppen, whom he met once in his former life and took an instant dislike to :roll:

Rather better is the programme that follows it, "The £100,000 House - Tricks of the Trade", despite the cumbersome title. Though the end result may not appeal to period property lovers and the punters sometimes seem a bit bullied by their advisors, it does seem to show the advantages of hiring someone with actual design skills, rather than just going ahead and building a boring and inconvenient extension.

I found the interior Design Challenge very disappointing this year--in fact,' Amateur ' seemed a very apt description. I felt that the Designers displayed no more than kitchen table/hobby skills more suited to the ' homemade home' scenario; they also seemed very insensitive to some of the more architecturally interesting rooms. Did I spot a tin of Wickes paint being applied to the wall of the Grade 1 listed building-----------?

Previous series were much better than this one.

I'm not sure I'd want someone who sells duvet covers on QVC designing any rooms for my house. Wouldn't mind having her money though.

I thought the whole series was hilarious. Would anyone allow these people into their homes with their poster paints and sticky backed plastic? I think not. I am sure that the whole thing is a con along with every other programme on tv. I don't believe that the furniture they butchered even belonged to the 'client' and I reckon the tv company pays to do it properly a few days after.

The so called judges were constantly contradicting themselves with their opinions and I would have liked more input from them as to how they would have done it better rather than constantly criticism.

We went to an antique fair a few weeks ago and they happened to be filming Bargain Hunt - You know, the programme where they are given one hour to buy three items. We were there three hours and when we left they were still filming. :shock:

Yep, this series definitely had a feeling of the old tackiness of Changing Rooms about it :lol: Talking of which, that was another con - Pip had a client years ago that had had the Changing Rooms team in and they confirmed that most of the 'work' was done by a team of builders, not Handy Andy and the designer in question.......
