Yes, intriguing that roof Moo, and quite a few similar examples about.

I wonder if this sort of mix and match approach was done at the peak transition period when tiles became more popular than thatch due to the little maintenance and less fire risk they required , especially in the counrtyside.

Very nice. Its so tempting, not to live in though, I don't like the aspect of the road.

There is a lovely small thatched cottage for sale here in my village. Untouched for 40 years. Great garden, very pretty, almost at the end of a dead end single file lane. I'd love to buy it and restore it using traditional materials and methods etc because I know whoever gets it will just ruin it with damp proofing and cement. But sadly I can't afford it. Its what I'd do if I could though.

Ooh, it's gorgeous! I especially like the sound of the kitchen ("double bowl sink unit, window to front aspect, doors to front and rear aspects").

No mention of price, though. Do you have any idea of the sort of figure they have in mind?

A pipe-dream: a group of us rescue it from the vandals, rent it out as a holiday home...... a sort of PPUK Landmark Trust........ aaaaaah.

The price is there, £250K - at the top.

The kitchen and bathroom are not desirable, even if you could have bacon sandwiches in the bath Penners. These rooms are in a single storey wooden extension that you can just about see on the end of the house. This needs demolishing and rebuilding, you really couldn't use it.

The planners will allow a replacement single storey extension in stone, but everyone wants to make it double height and increase the size of the cottage too much and they won't allow that. This is right in my opinion. Its a lovely 2 bed cottage. Why can't we keep some of those for people wanting to start on the cottage property ladder. But the price puts people off with that in mind. Mostly I think people have wanted to buy it, extend it and 'modernise' it (God help us) and sell it for a profit. If you wanted to live in it the price would be less important.

Its a chocolate box cottage. The upstairs toilet window is about 8" wide and 16" tall. I love it.

A lovely looking cottage, which I have often admired whilst driving past over the years.

Sadly, on a nasty bend in the road and if nothing else very noise with the potential for a visit from a truck in your front room when you least expect it.

I have a vague memory that my wife knew the person who lived there years back - I will ask her and report anything interesting.
