Insulation grants

Apparently it is now possible to recieve a grant towards insulating with flax and wool.

However, this isn't available as a DIY option, and you have to pay extra towards the costs.

Interestingly, I've just called Thermafleece to be told they find the installers used by the heat project aren't keen as they are more used to dealing with 'Traditional' glass fibre! So if anyone does go the grant route and manages to get Thermafleece, they'd be interested to know about it.

Does this mean I can get a grant every time I put on a woollen sweater or linen undies?

You could try... but I think hunky men may have to come and actually install for you, you can't DIY...

It's a lottery, though, as some installers will refuse point-blank to install flax or wool insulation, and you are allocated a particular installer by the heat project based on your postcode.
We argued 'til we were blue in the face, but the installer appointed for us simply refused, and the heat project declined to supply an alternative installer. A very frustrating business!

Thermafleece has said it is happy to get a couple of bales brought to Dacre from the depot in South Cumbria and we can put 'em in the back of the Golf each time we pass...

Just a note but I applied for this and was told the funding had run out in my area for the year!!!! will wait until Dec
