Insulation grant aid?

We have a modern (built c1945) single story extension built to the rear of our cottage, I had intended to knock it down and rebuild a two story in its place (budget says no) so second choice is do up what we have. The extension is a cavity wall job so today a surveyor gave me a price for cavity wall insulation, unfortunately because its an extension to the main house its not eligible for a grant? Seems odd to me, any comments please.

Contact your local district/borough council, ask them if theya re working in partnership with any companies.
South Staffs are currently offering cavity wall insualtion for free to anyone who has an unfilled/fillable cavity.

I think to qualify for the grant 2/3 minimum of the property needs to be done. Not 100% sure.

Yes Stuart you are correct, apparently no grant to do only the extension section of my cottage
