I have a cellar under my living room and at the moment all it is original split logs as joists (150-250mm dia) with elm floor boards nailed at 300mm centres, having just improved ventilation to the cellar to help with damp (fixed problem) my floor is getting very cold even at this time of year.
I am considering insulating with sheeps wool between the joists as per Thermfleece website but as I like to work in the cellar doing carpentry I have to somehow board out the ceiling to stop the fleece getting covered in sawdust, but as the joist sizes are so irregular putting up some type of board is not really not possible as plaster board etc will not bend that much - even split lath may be a problem, what options should I look at? I have considered Triso Super 10 (building control surveyor quite liked this idea) as it will trap less dust than the fleece but will have to be careful with ventilation etc. I am not to fussed if the joists are exposed or not but I would like a warmer living room.
thanks
