Installing heating

Hi All

We're in the process of buying a period house - not listed. It's currently heated with storage heaters but we would prefer oil or LPG heating.

Can anyone help by explaining what we would need, the dos and don'ts, potential costs etc of installing oil or LGP? Any recommended companies (we're in Buckinghamshire) would also be useful (or what credentials/affiliations a company should have if any)

Is this type of heating really bad for a period house? We feel storage heaters are too expensive to run and not terribly efficient.

I think parts of the house are at least a couple of hundred years old, but I don't know exactly.

You would need to give details of the age and construction to get detailed info.

In general LPG is very expensive and oil isnt exactly cheap.

Ground source heat pumps (GSHP) are quite favoured at the moment for efficiency. They also get installed on the basis of being top up heating - so run at lower temperatures than trad radiators etc. very suitable for underfloor. Has to be worth considering as a new install.

Ice Energy seem to be one of the better specialists.
