Installing Central Heating

Would anyone be able to give me any idea at all how much it would cost to install a new central heating system into a small two bed house? Has gas supply to the house but is currently enjoying the 'benefits' of an electric storage heating system!!!

I've just been quoted £5000 - £6000 for a small 3 bed end terrace - has wall mounted fan heaters at the mo!

Wild guess for a system of about 8 radiators - one side or the other of £5000.

We have just been quoted £2485 for a new system, which includes a condenser boiler, new radiators, removing the old water tanks etc.

We live in a 2 bed mid-terrace property. Not bad I thought!

I've just had a quote for a three bed/ two reception semi detached house with beams to navigate around which came in at £3845 inc vat

Just get several quotes.
When I had my heating installed at first, it was done very badly and never worked. I had to get it renewed and a new boiler to replace the Esse stove I had installed. Not criticising Esse here, they were brilliant. It was the first engineer who installed it incorrectly.
I had three quotes for the job ranging from £6000 to £1800
I went with the cheapest quote as he seemed to be able to fit the boiler where I wanted it and seemed like a nice chap. Well, don't laugh too much, what else can we go by except gut instinct when we have no expertise in the area?
Anyway, he did the job in just a few days, cleaned up after himself and proved completely competent and it has worked well ever since.
I was unlucky first time round and very lucky the second time. There are some good, honest people out there.
So, just get plenty of quotes in before you decide. It's very interesting to see the range of prices for the same job.

I have just paid £3171 for a full central heating system to my large 2 bed Victorian semi (with a system taking into account future 3rd bed in loft) with an A rated boiler. I saved a bit though as it was a friend of a friend - they didn't charge VAT and they knocked off £150 for us taking up the floorboards and chasing out for some of the pipework. Previously had just been 2 gas fires (poor little cold old lady that used to live there!)
