Installing a stove and double skinned Chimney

Hello everyone.

I would be grateful for some advice on the installation of a wood/coal burning stove in my cottage. It does not have a chimney in the room in question, which has been extended so that the wall on which the chimney is modern cavity wall construction (2 storeys high). I am thinking about having an inglenook type fireplace built with a morso stove in it (this type was recommended to me). It will as I understand it have to have a double skinned Pipe type chimney put up the outside wall.

I would be very grateful indeed for advice on the following:

(1) What would be the sort of price I would be looking at for this work and what would this include (I will supply the inglenook beam myself)?

(2) Can anyone recommend a HETAS installer who would come to carry out such work in north Bucks (just south of Leighton Buzzard)?

(3) How close can the top of the pipe be to trees - ie how far would I have to cut my trees back?

(4) Assuming that the pipe was reachable on the outside, does it get so hot as to possibly burn children or dogs if they touch it?

I can only help with the height of trees.
In general the chimney has to be higher that surrounding trees because of the downdraught caused by wind over them.

Yes, that was exactly the problem I had but I couldn't trim the trees due to preservation orders and I couldn't raise the chimney. In my case an 'H-pot' largely solved the problem.

I can't guarantee it would solve every such problem though. Funny things, chimneys. A black art all of their own!

And all requiring the Hetas stamp, if your going to sell in the near future or requiring building regs?? I fitted my own wood burner 2 years ago, what a polarva to actually buy the fire this time.. can't do this, can't do that blah blah blah.. managed to talk him around to sell me the fire. it's in now, but in theory i can't use it, as its only for athsetic purposes as it contraveans ((spelling?!) fire regs (althought there's been a fire in that room for 300 years.. (we re converted the attic back into bedroom area, but its being seen as converting an attic space and the fire is in the main escape route / hallway.). doh!!

Contact http://www.euroheat.co.uk, they can possibly give you a few names, mind you, they might prefer you had one of their stoves. The installers courses they run are excellent, so whoever they suggest will probably be ok.
