further to my post about the outside wall please see the corresponding internal space. Attached are 3 photos. The fireplace we discovered when we ripped out the counter tops from the office (great) the damp in the corner (not so great). The damp corner goes through to the room at the back also shown. It appears as though the lath and plaster original wall had subsequently had cement render applied at the bottom which has then fallen away due to damp (from somewhere!). We need to sort the damp - so removing the mdf that was covering all the render was a starting point removing all the soil and brambles from outside was the next. To level the height of the earth outside with the internal floor would involve ripping up concrete & the original tiles that are there. Should we really be doing this? I'll reply to this posting to show another twist..
