Insect cocoon identification please...

Hi, does anyone know what these are?

Doesn't look like mycelium, looks like moth cocoons or some other sort of wasp or beetle, never seen them before and they are everywhere over the house.

Just curious.

What’s inside when you squish one? Actually I can’t believe you haven’t already squished one, I thought that was what boys did instinctively on encountering something of unknown origin, squish poke or nibble

I'd send your pic to the Royal Entomological Society who will identify the creepies for you.

I imagined that stuff was spiders, we have a good deal of it behind old timbers, but I may be wrong.

Hello! I’m ‘searching the web’ No pun intended! For the answer to this stuff! I found some on and under new softwood flooring! Your post is the only thing I’ve seen it on! I found one grub in it. The cocoons are so strong impossible to tear apart and seem to sink into the wood leaving dents.
