Inappropriate replacement doors in conservation area

Hi,

What can be done....16th century unlisted property in conservation area has just had two plain in keeping doors replaced with wooden (I should be grateful not uPVC I suppose) brown stained doors with glazed inserts complete with fake leaded flower pattern any point in lodging a complain?

16th Century surely must be listed? I thought everything before 1750 (or some date around then) was listed.

Our house was possibly built in 1290, but most likely sometime in the 1400's and is not listed.

I'm going by the English Heritage website, which says:

All buildings built before 1700 which survive in anything like their original condition are listed, as are most built between 1700 and 1840. After that date, the criteria become tighter with time, so that post-1945 buildings have to be exceptionally important to be listed.

Maybe they missed yours. They missed ours the first time round, which is how come it has modern(ish) double-glazed windows.

Ours has modernish dg as well, well as modern as the aluminium of the 70's will be!!!
The CO has been round, many a time, advised us well on our best course of action, drunk much tea and taken lots of pictures, said he'd apply for listing, but doesn't appear to have done so, as 6 years has now elapsed and he retired earlier this year.

Unless the local planning authority has removed permitted development rights covering front doors by way of an Article 4 direction covering the conservation area then there is nothing you can do. I personally think all conservation areas should have permitted development rights relating to windows and doors removed.

I am hoping to replace a plastic soil pipe with a cast iron one but as our house sits right on the roadside this is not permitted development whereas we can change our windows and door to our hearts content.

This cottagte was built around the middle of the 16th century then half of it was rebuilt around 1760, its quite well preserved , even has a few daub ceilings but its not listed.

Why not give your CO a call and ask?
