Got keys this pm! small load arriving tuesday, then 4 more loads spread over 10 days or so!!

So far found faulty soil pipe, damp around the chimney breast in the dining room, lovely old flagstones on the floor of the shed, not, as I expected, herringbone reds. A mysterious little gate at the very bottom of the garden with evidence of a little path into maybe an old allotment, and 'wobbly glass panes in some of the windows..the remaining wooden ones that is!!!!

Otherwise, we are chuffed to bits. Pics ASAP.

W-e-l-l... all except fully functioning drains - however boring they may be. I've always been entirely happy not to have tackle drain renovation.

I have just climbed out of yet another cardboard box to write a quick 'Hi'. Yes it's going to be fun putting right the little isms of previous owners.
Lots of stud walls, so far we have found a complete window encased between 2 stud walls in the kitchen. The boiler that caused all the pre purchase paperwork delays has sprung a leak, the mysterious little gate leads to old vegetable gardens belonging to the terrace, last worked about 8 years ago . The bathroom is painted yellow ochre---

We are still having problems getting our broadband connected, dial up is soooo slow with images. and I haven't a clue where my camera is at the mo..... bear with me!

I have taken up half the first layer of kitchen floor-- black ( I hate black in the house) tops tiles style slate, and am now looking under the units to see what there is under layer two, which is a fairly reasonable ceramic-- I can see a bit of terracota peeping out. The hallway seems to have 3 layers, engineered wood, hardboard, floor boards, I was hoping for encaustic but I reckon they've gone for good, which is a shame because a few houses in the road still seem to have them.

I know where the camera is, Joss. It's in the last place that you'll look. :wink:

Be a bit wary about taking up those engineered boards. They've obviously been laid for a reason. I have a nasty feeling that, if you lift them (and the hardboard) you'll probably find the original floor in a pretty poor condition.
